DMR/TETRA Data Transmission

In addition to digital speech transmission, TETRA and DMR radio systems from Selex ES are also suitable for the simultaneous use of data applications. Possible applications for such synergy scenarios can be found in the energy sector and local public transportation sector, among others.

 

In the energy sector, the transmission of the IEC60870-5-101 and 104 protocols via a digital private mobile radio system is of key interest.

 

 

 

 

 

 

DMR

In the case of DMR, the ECOS-D radio system from Selex ES makes this form of transmission available. A DMR data modem is used as the terminal device. A serial interface or Ethernet/IP interface is used to transmit the corresponding data from the IEC station to the DMR modem and subsequently into the DMR network. The DMR radio network forwards the data to the IP address of the central IEC head-end station.

 

Frequency range

4m, 2m and 70cm

 

Operating mode

The radios are operated in conventional (Tier II) mode or in trunking mode (Tier III). The radios can then be set up as a simulcast system or connected using a cellular network.

 

Services

Over the whole area of coverage the following services can be used, provided the appropriate terminal devices are available:

  • Data services IEC60870-5-101/104 via DMR

 

Scalability

The coverage of the DMR private mobile radio network can be extended (i.e. through the addition of a further location) or its capacity can be expanded (i.e. by a further radio channel).

 

TETRA

The Elettra Adaptanet family of radio systems from Selex ES provides a method of transmission for the above stated IEC data protocol. A TETRA data modem is used as the terminal device. A serial interface or Ethernet/IP interface is used to transmit the corresponding data from the IEC station to the TETRA modem and subsequently into the TETRA network. The TETRA radio network forwards the data to the IP address of the central IEC head-end station.

70cm

 

Operating mode

The data modems are operated in TMO mode.

Over the whole area of coverage the following services can be used, provided the appropriate terminal devices are available:
